Many of our dairies routinely conduct energy audits, which help us identify additional ways to increase energy efficiency, including utilizing more energy efficient appliances or changing procedures or protocols to use less energy.
A unique partnership with a vermicomposting company allows one of our farm families to turn the waste from their dairy into rich, professional-grade organic plant food with the help of hungry worms
In the digester, which is owned by one of our farm families, manure from the herd is broken down by micro-organisms, producing liquid, solids and biogas. The liquid is used to fertilize fields, the solids serve as the cows’ bedding and the gas is used to generate power for the dairy.
